Flameproof and explosion-proof enclosures are similar in many ways, but they are very different in other ways. Both flameproof and explosion-proof have covers that are bolted on or securely fastened with threaded caps or fittings. On the other hand, flameproof enclosures have special fittings on them that require special tools to remove. Flameproof enclosures cannot be drilled in the field. They must be drilled at the factory, while explosion-proof enclosures can be drilled in the field, which makes them easier for OEMs to use.

Both flameproof and explosion-proof enclosures have their own pros and cons. It all depends on whether the user prefers one over the other, and it all depends on the job they need the enclosure for.
