Universal Joint Couplings

Universal joint couplings use a mechanical pivoting action controlled by radial bearings. The Huco-Pol series is injection molded from polyoxymethylene and has a controlled preload to eliminate backlash. This type of coupling has large misalignment capabilities as well as good torsional damping and water resistance. They also do not require lubrication. Double joint versions include a universal joint, allowing them to also handle radial and angular misalignment. The Huco-Pol series is suitable for light-duty applications. They are lightweight and corrosion-resistant, making them ideal for applications where traditional steel joints are underutilized. They are commonly used in commercial machines, food processing plants, laboratory equipment, and electro-medical equipment, among others.

Expandable drive shafts (telescopic shafts) are useful when the distance between the actuator and the load changes during operation, or when component differences need to be accommodated, or when a quick disconnect facility is required in the drivetrain.

In keeping with the lightweight capabilities of plastic universal joints, Huco telescopic shafts use precision drawn square brass tubes as the telescoping medium. These tubes can be easily cut by the user to provide a telescopic drive shaft with custom dimensions.
